How we came together

The story behind Stitch and myself:

I learned how to ride when I was 10, I'm 22 now. Soon after, I found myself helping out the lady Janice who gave me lessons around her farm. I helped her out with her farm and horses till I was 18, and then things fell apart for her. I went on with my life, another Lady named Patsy whom I had known since I was 10 was kind enough to let me go up to her farm and ride her horse Ribbons. I tired to ride whenever I had free time. Years passed by and I had been working since I was 17, saving up. Saving up for anything.

By Spring of 2005 I had saved up quit a bit and started looking at horses for sale on line. It was then, when I realised that I had enough money saved up for a horse to call my own. I looked and looked and looked all over the Internet and in new papers for horses for sale. I found a few that sounded nice and went and tried them out. None of them really caught my heart. One day while surfing the Internet looking up local horses for sale, I came across a farm that had a horse for sale. I looked where they were located at, and to my surprise they were not even 5 minutes down the road from Patsy's place.

I read up on the horse and he fell under what I was looking for. I emailed the person selling him in hopes that they still had him. The next day I received a phone call from the lady saying she still had him. I quickly called her back, soon found myself playing 'phone tag' with her. Finally we got a hold of each other and I asked if I could come up and see him and try him out. She was nice enough to pretty much tell me to "come on up now". I was shocked and raced up there. I got there and we talked a bit, she showed me him and told me to pretty much "do whatever I want with him". So I played around with him and he did everything I wanted or asked him to do. I tacked him up and rode him a bit. He was perfect! I told the lady I'd call her in a day or two and let her know.

Well that night, that lady Janice who I hadn't seen or talked to in over a year, out of the blue called me. It was just a bit weird, but we've becomes friends again since she's getting her life back together! Also that night I don't think I got any sleep. I was up tossing and turning all night long, with this horse on my mind. Finally morning rolled around, I got up and headed to work. While at work I couldn't get the horse out of my mind and finally on my break, I ran back to the break room, grabbed my cell phone and called and left the lady a voice mail saying that "I'd like to buy him, and could have a check for her that afternoon." She called me back, and we set up a time to fill out paper work and all that good stuff.

So the evening on June 9th, 2005, Stitch officially became the horse I could call my own. The horse I had been dreaming of for so long!

So a little about Stitch himself:

He is a registered paint gelding. He was born on March 1st, 2002. That makes him only 3. He is such a people horse, he loves people. He is a total sweetie and tries his best even when he is totally confused. He comes when you call him, he'll stand in one spot forever while you brush him. He also loves water and tries his best to get the hose nozzle in his mouth while spraying him down.

He's got a very nice and smooth gate, not to mention he goes by voice commands (walk, trot, canter, slow, easy, stand). He also lunges on voice commands, no need even using a whip. He is a dream to pick his feet, he picks each one up before even asking for it. He is great out on trails, no spooking or freaking out when he falls behind from the others. He also loads easy. He does not need a bit, and he also learned how to neck rein in under 2 hours. He is very willing to learn and is eager to please.

All in all I fell head over heals in love with him on the first day of meeting him! I hope to have him till he is an old old guy!
